Course registration

You must register for all courses you wish to attend via LSF. Exceptions are indicated in the comments for the respective course in LSF.

Courses at the Department for Sociology, especially exercise courses and seminars, have limited capacity for various reasons (room size, supervision, etc.).

As many students need to be distributed among relatively few courses with limited capacity, there is a fair, prioritized registration procedure that assigns students to available courses.

Detailed information on how to register for courses via LSF can be found in the LSF tutorials.

FAQ

The course registration process functions according to an automated algorithm that takes your priorities into account. In the event of overbooking, it is not possible to accommodate all students' priorities. The algorithm then makes a random decision in order to achieve a fair solution.

In such cases, please contact the Student Affairs Office. Please note that we can only help you with conflicts with other courses, not with conflicts with your private life, for example employment.

You must register for the exam in each course at a later date. The exam registration period will be announced by the Examination Office (PAGS) and is expected to take place in the middle of the respective semester.
